October 1941, Moscow Oblast. About three and a half thousand cadets of Podolsk artillery and infantry schools are ordered to take up the defence at the Ilyinsky line and, together with the regular units of the 43rd Army, hold off the attack of the fascist invaders until reinforcements arrive. The yesterday's boys, losing their lives, hold their ground against the vastly superior German forces, and for twelve days become a barrier to the enemy's approach to Moscow.
